Tina Pavao

Tina Pavao, Owner

Shirley’s daughter, Tina will gladly assist with booking a tour. This former 4th grade teacher now works with the tour leader team in operating Wok Wiz. Tina and her husband, Matthew keep busy raising daughters Maggie and Stella and rooting on the San Francisco Giants.

Lola Hom

Lola Hom, Tour Leader

Born and raised in Chinatown, Lola was a member of the elite all-girls St. Mary’s Drum & Bugle Corps. She performed for the 1961 JFK Inaugural Celebration in Washington, D.C. Pleasant and engaging, she was a flight attendant for the FLYING TIGERS and is an extensive traveler. Lola recently retired from the U.S. Dept. of Education, Lola Is also the proud grandmother of two.

Frank Jang

Frank Jang, Tour Leader

Frank grew up above the Wo Chong Bean Sprout factory on Jackson St. in Chinatown, and still enjoys bean sprouts now and then. His family owned the Man-U Imports in San Mateo. Upon his recent retirement, Frank started his professional photography business. He is a great asset to the Chinese community, supporting countless fundraising events. Frank is currently the Vice President of the Association of Chinese Cooking Teachers and has served on the Board of Directors for the Chinese Historical Society of America. He is also the Vice President of the SF Chinatown Photographic Society and co-founded the Artistic Senior Portrait Project, which provides free portraits at senior centers all over the Bay Area. He is also a founding member and on the executive board if the SF Unified Lions Club. Frank has a restaurant management degree and vast culinary knowledge, which he will gladly share with you on our food centered specialty tour.

Gimmy Park Li

Gimmy Park Li, Tour Leader

Gimmy is a veteran of nearly 40 years as a public affairs program host and producer at KNBR Radio, providing media access opportunities. She is active in local community issues, and served as a member of the Citizens Advisory Commission to the GGNRA (Golden Gate National Recreation Area). In addition to leading Wok Wiz tours, she volunteers with the Presidio Park Stewards, a program of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy/National Park Service.

Dorothy Quock

Dorothy Quock, Tour Leader

Dorothy receives consistent rave reviews for her wonderful tours. Born and lives in San Francisco Chinatown, she has been on the Wok Wiz team since 1991. Dorothy has a Travel & Tourism degree and was certified from International Tour Management Institute. She led 19 groups to People’s Republic of China 1982-88, besides living there months at a time. Over nearly two-year span in China she wrote a handbook manual for Chinese tour guides. Dorothy is very personable and fascinates visitors with stories about her life growing up here, as well historical, cultural and social facts. She became a volunteer coordinator for YWCA Computer Learning Center after attending to keep up with digital world, when funding loss threatened its neighborhood closure. Dorothy is an archival researcher/field producer for local Filmmaker James Q. Chan, whose Forever, Chinatown was on PBS-TV 2017. She was featured on the Instagram account “Chinatown Pretty” for her one-of-a-kind fashion sense.

Hank Quock

Hank Quock, Tour Leader

Hank is the former president of the Association of Chinese Cooking Teachers, and is also a performer — ask him about that. Born and raised in Chinatown Hank taught Chinese cooking for 25 years and is a retired restaurant owner. Another great storyteller, Hank blends his love for Chinese food into the tours.

Emily Soo

Emily Soo, Tour Leader

Emily was born in Santa Rosa and resides in San Francisco’s Chinatown. She spent many years in the hotel and restaurant industry, including “high tea” service at the Garden Court in the luxurious Palace Hotel. This lovely and gracious tour leader plays the piano and loves to sing. Her interests include going to the theatre and to musicals.

Herman Young

Herman Young, Tour Leader

Herman is a very kind man who devotes a great deal of time working with youth. In addition to being a part time realtor and Wok Wiz tour leader, He is a varsity badminton coach for Los Altos High School, JV Girls Basketball coach for Monta Vista High School and teaches 6th to 10th grade basketball on Saturdays for Chinese Rainbow School at Homestead High School in Cupertino. He also organizes a free summer fishing trip for Mid Peninsula Boys & Girls Club for the past 20 years. Also, Herman just finished his final time volunteering for 15 years as a Chinese New Year’s Parade float driver.
