Got up at 5 a.m., stepped out to greet the new morning, looked at, and waved to the swimming pool below. “What to do, what to do…?” Ah, I know who will give me tourist-advice: the concierge! He suggested I take a shuttle to the Aloha Bowl, for the Monday-Wednesday-Friday Swap Meet. For $6 (one way,) I hopped on the shuttle and enjoyed a leisurely ride to a NOT leisurely day of spending. It’s a fun, probably “one time is enough” experience.
Hundreds of vendors sell their junk and treasure to thousands of shoppers. You can buy 8 T-shirts for $12.00, fairly good quality Aloha Shirts for $10.00, other clothing, radios, toys, beach towels and baskets, and surprise: suitcases so you can lug everything back to your hotel! I got a big, floppy hat that I’m told is a bargain at $10.
“It is at least $25 on the mainland.”

As soon as I landed at the Honolulu Airport, I took in a deep breath of fresh Hawaiian air, and smiled, “Yippee, I’m back!” I have been coming to Hawaii since the early 1980s.
